Selby Tiger Sharks

ASA swimming club in Selby, North Yorkshire

About

Selby Tiger Sharks is a friendly local swimming club based at Selby Leisure Centre in North Yorkshire.

Formed in the 1980s, the club has gone from strength and strength and now has over one hundred members aged between 7 and 17. We run four sessions of either one or two hours a week for both junior and senior squad members. Competitive swimming is encouraged and our senior squad swimmers regularly compete at ASA events. All swimmers participate in our local galas, held twice a year, and we hold an annual awards evening to recognise excellence within the club.

The club committee is staffed by parents:

  • Paul Hyde (Chair)
  • Andrew Mence (Vice Chair)
  • Dave Cooper (Treasurer)
  • Janette Moore (Secretary)
  • Lindsay Horsley (Gala Secretary)
  • Claire Hyde (Welfare Officer)
  • Catherine Cooper (Fundraising)
  • Dave Buckley (website)

The role of Welfare Officer is essential in providing a first point of contact for children, parents and adults within the club who have a child safeguarding and welfare concern. In partnership with the club committee the welfare officer ensures that the club is adopting and implementing child safeguarding policy and procedures which are necessary for it to demonstrate in its duty of care to children. Please feel free to approach Claire in confidence if you have any concerns.
